Public Defender Institutes New Fee Claim Rule |

Julie Miller of the Public Defender's office has advised me today, in writing, that fee claims must include the form in which the defendant asking for a court-appointed lawyer states that he/she is indigent. It's not in the rules or the Code, of course, but it is a new policy of the Public Defender. |

I have confirmation that the Federal CLE credit from our annual conference in November 2008 is identified by the File/Log# 09-024 and we will be approved for 9 hours. This will not be posted on the Federal web site www.iasd.uscourts.gov because they only update once a year and I got our materials to them in 2009 instead of 2008. Thanks! |

Hello CLE filers! I do not see our November annual conference listed on the Federal web site: www.iasd.uscourts.gov However, I do have a letter from the office in Cedar Rapids dated 2-11-09 stating that our conference "should" qualify for 9.0 federal CLE hours. The file number is 09-024. I have a call in to their office to confirm for me and am awaiting their reply. In the meantime, Bob wanted me to get this information to you, in case you can fill out your annual CLE form with this information. When I look at the list approved for 1008, I note that their Log#s all show 08- and then the 3-digit number following. So I believe the 09-024 number will be the identifying number for our annual conference. The name of the event was: Handling High Profile Cases. |

Since many people, myself included, have struggled with the State CLE web site to get the Activity ID needed for our Annual Conference November 13 & 14, 2008, I wanted to post it here. The Activity ID is 55200, and it is for 15 hours and 2 ethics hours.
By the end of this week I will have the information about the Federal CLE credit and will post it pronto! |
